When Peter Capaldi talked about The Pilot on The Graham Norton Show the other night, he mentioned that his relationship with Bill Potts is very much an "Educating Rita" one.

Now, I hadn't even thought about the cross-cultural problems with that, until I saw this post on tumblr:

Title: Ill Met By Walford
Author: [livejournal.com profile] bas_math_girl
Characters: Ten/Donna
Rating: PG-13 (previous bits are definitely NC-17)
Word Count: 1514
Summary: in an AU, Donna Noble and John Smith are desperately trying to hide their crush, but the soap opera fates have other ideas for them.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, be they from Doctor Who or EastEnders; but I can wish.
Prompt: we’re actors on a popular TV series and our two characters weren’t written to be a couple, but the fans are salivating over our onscreen “chemistry”, and now the director decided to change the script to add more sexual tension - how the hell am I supposed to keep my off screen crush hidden now?
A/N: this contains mentions of a real, much-loved interviewer.
A/N2: I found this on my hard drive and thought I might as well post it, as I won't do anything more to it now.

The Doctor will appear in the first episode of the new sci-fi series Class, For Tonight We Might Die, when the series begins on Saturday 22 October, on BBC 3.

We were just watching an episode of Cold Case, where everything they investigated fell into their lap within minutes; and I couldn't help thinking of this:

Catherine Tate appeared in The Archers tonight, playing one of the jurors in the trial of the attempted murder of an abusive husband, in a plot line that has been running for almost 2 years; but you can still enjoy her performance (as well as Nigel Havers and Dame Eileen Artkins') without knowing any of that.

WARNING: contains discussions about domestic abusive

You can download the mp3 of the drama HERE for the next four weeks.

Have just seen this posted on tumblr

and immediately wondered why the BBC would give a monkey's since Broadchurch is an ITV programme.

Yes, I know it's shown on BBC America in that part of the world, but that still doesn't make it a BBC programme.

Other than that, I accept it's a good joke about his hatred of sushi.

Last week I read the latest Ten/Donna book, "In The Blood" by Jenny T. Colgan, but I've only just gained the usage of a usable laptop so I just had to come and share some quotes with you that grabbed my D/D heart.

their relationship... Awwww! )

Donna blinked. Then she realised. 'So I'm the guinea pig.'

'Yeah.' He grinned. 'And a lot else'
She smiled back at him. 'Hey,' she said. 'You know, I just realised that I am in fact so awesome, a completely emotionless man fell for me. A man with no capacity for love.'
'Well, maybe you're quite something, Donna Noble.'

Most of the grieving online from yesterday has been for the actor who played Severus Snape, but for me (and a lot of British women) Alan Rickman caught my heart by being Jamie, who was the perfect man who died in "Truly Madly Deeply":

If you watch the whole thing make sure you have your box of tissues by your side as he manoeuvers his wife into getting over him (not many can do real snot like Juliet Stevenson can).

You can find the whole thing, with Spanish subtitles/closed captions, right HERE.

Hubby completely surprised me late this afternoon by suggesting we go and see "What We Did On Our Holiday"

So we did, and have just got home.

It's a very enjoyable, funny film; and we laughed a great deal (especially the snipes at the English). Okay, I burst into tears during the opening credits, but I get like that when I see familiar Scottish scenery and I haven't been back up there for a while. The film was not to blame. The bits with Billy Connolly were adorable, and DT showed how well he does 'upset'. What more could you want?
